There’s nothing that fosters togetherness quite like sharing a meal. For that reason, I love cooking for others. But since I can’t invite the entire world over to my house, I created this little website. With every recipe, I’m offering connection. With every purchase through the shop, I’m building community.
And that’s what’s at the heart of Starter + Salt: hospitality. This is a place that celebrates fellowship over nutrient dense meals that never compromises on flavor. Here you’ll not only find food that’s good for your body, but it’s also good for your soul.
I started researching nutrition when I was tired of the endless cycles of fad dieting and “falling off the wagon.” I maybe lost a few pounds here and there, but I rarely felt healthier. I went down rabbit holes of ways of eating and what’s really important when it comes to our bodies – not just our weight but our skin, nails, hair, energy, mood, everything!
When I got married and started cooking for my husband, I was determined to create meals that we would love eating and would simultaneously make our bodies feel good. The meals I make always revolve around protein variety, healthy fats, and fermented foods because I think those three are the keys to health for the body and flavor for the tongue.
After having my two daughters, I started to further explore traditional cooking in my kitchen. Not only did we actually prefer eating homecooked meals over restaurant food, but my children had an expansive palate and each of us physically felt good year round. I knew I was onto something…
So I’m here to invite you to break some bread with me as I share recipes that will satisfy your taste buds, nourish your body, and fuel your adventures. Thanks for being here with me, as we all learn and grow together, striving to be just a little better than we were yesterday.
